To all of you who fought that I would be free, thank you! My father, Merlin "Dave" Davis, was on board in the early 40's. I can't wait to share this site with him. I know it will bless his heart, and bring tremendous pride to know that this great ship, an the thousands of men who were sailed on it, are being honored this way!

Hello again, it's been awhile since I've been here, just wanted to pass the word about a new book I just read--The Triumph & the Glory--it's about the war we fought against Germany and Japan and I think it is just terrific. The bookstores around here are sold out but I got a copy from amazon.com. There wasn't much in there about us sailors but it was still a fine tribute to all veteran's of WWII. Keep posting your comments, fella's, it's all interesting!

My father served on this ship. I do not know exactly when he was. He did not talk too much about the war but said it was unbelievable when the guns were fired. He also said a friend of his was killed on the ship. To all who served on this ship thank you f r bringing my father home.
